Say what!?!? You must be joking…

Everyone knows one of the first things a business *needs* is a logo…

…or do they?

A logo is an important step in building your business’s visual identity but a logo alone is not what is going to really connect with those high-paying clients that fall in love with your business and come back time and time again. Truly loyal customers connect with your business on a deeper, more emotional level. Brands like Nike and Lululemon don’t sell athletic clothing, they sell a lifestyle, a dream an ambition. Their logo represents more than just their business or products, it represents what they stand for and their logo is supported by their brand core values. These core values are what create that emotional bond with clients who share those values!

If you are looking to elevate your business and take it to the next level, you have to start with a strong, brand foundation. That means digging deep and asking yourself hard questions that you may not have considered before. Many business owners get wrapped up in the day-to-day operations and hustle every day just to get a few people in the door (or on their email list) but they aren’t working from a strong foundation.

How do you build a strong brand foundation for your business? You have to ask yourself a few hard questions first:

  • Why did I start / do I run my business?
  • What deeper problem am I solving for my clients?
  • Why do my clients love working with me / shopping at my store / using my products?
  • How am I different than my competition?
  • Who is my ideal client and why?
  • What does my business stand for / what values drive my business?
  • What mission or vision do I have for my business?

Answering these questions is the first step to building a strong brand foundation. One that truly connects with the right kind of clients, clients who “get it” and will gladly pay a higher price for premium service, experience and products. This is how all of the major, successful brands of the world do it! They get into their client’s minds and make an emotional connection with them.

When it comes right down to it, humans need that emotional connection, they need to feel seen and understood. Creating a brand that stands for something more than selling shoes or fixing cars is important for your businesses success. It’s about more than selling a product or service, it’s about understanding your clients frustrations and providing an obviously better solution than anyone else in your market.
